It is, without doubt, an exciting time to be an oncologist or a cancer researcher. As our understanding continues to grow of the underlying genetic mutations and combinations of mutations that lead to cancer, so too do that number of new, highly targeted therapies designed to attack the disease. But when it comes to cancer, due to both its complexity and its stubborn ability to mutate and develop resistance to initial therapies, finding ways to more precisely detect driver mutations as early as possible is one of the keys to significantly improving patient outcomes
