Taking Proteomics to Heart


Coronary heart disease (CHD) is enormously widespread, affecting some 6% of US the population and killing 370,000 people annually and portending a heart attack, stroke, and other potentially fatal events. But which CHD patients are more likely to suffer these cardiovascular blows? Researchers have developed a protein-based assay to find out, and the technology behind it may be a start to fulfilling the diagnostic promise of proteomics.
